AZUSA/SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Dons wrapped up a very impressive weekend of racing which was split between San Francisco and Los Angeles as they competed at the Johnny Mathis Invitational and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Baneet Bains kicked off the competition for the Dons on Thursday night in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where she smashed her personal best by nine seconds and secured herself a convincing west regional qualifying mark.
Ed Buck continued the impressive racing later that night by running a personal best in the 10,000 meters, moving to fifth place on the USF all-time list. Friday was just as exciting as the Dons competed well in both the 800 meters and 5,000 meters. Most notably,
Grace Copeland ran her debut 5,000 meters on the track and showed very promising form for the rest of the season.
Abby Pradere closed out the competition on Saturday night, executing a perfect race and was rewarded with a new personal best.
On Saturday at the Johnny Mathis Invitational,
Ebony Webb has a great race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in second place and clocking her second fastest time in the event.
Imani Wyatt and
Kamilla Vanadzina both secured convincing victories in the 400 meter hurdles and 800 meters respectively. The high jump school record also went down, as
Tatumn LaChapelle cleared 1.38 meters in the field event. For the men,
Aaron Ruiz broke 16 minutes for the 5,000 meters for the first time.
Ryan Duncan and
Danny Skovron completed solid races by doubling in the 800/1500 meters, with
Carter Lewis racing in the 1,500 meters to clock a personal best.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH RILEY:
"This weekend has been circled on the calendar since day one of the season, and it did not disappoint. At SF State we had nice improvements by Ebony (steeple), Imani (400h PB), and Aaron (5k PB). But the highlight was Tatumn breaking the USF record in the women's high jump. Down in Los Angeles the weekend got off to a great start with Baneet breaking her personal best by 9 seconds in the women's steeplechase and Ed setting a new PB in his 10k debut for the Dons. The weekend kept rolling in the 5k with Ruby lowering her best outdoor 5k and Grace with an impressive 5k debut on the track. We finished the weekend with Abby getting after it and letting a new personal best in the women's 1,500m."
