BREMERTON, Wash. – Hitting the links for the final time this year, the University of San Francisco women's golf team finished fourth overall (19-over-883/296-294-293) at the 2023 West Coast Conference Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Club as
Riana Mission (4
th) and
Yvonne Shang (T-8
th) each finished in the top ten individually for the Dons this weekend.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Catching fire from the start, Mission was tied atop the individual leaderboard after the first round after firing a 69 (-3) across her first 18 holes. Moving into day two, the sophomore continued her stellar play by tallying a 74 as she remained in the top three (T-3rd) at 1-under-143. Closing out the tournament with a 72 (E), Mission finished her second conference tournament in fourth overall as she shot 1-under-215 (69, 74, 72) following her third round. Impressively, the Las Vegas native led the field with 40 total pars while also recording 8 total birdies. Overall, this performance marked Mission's third top ten finish of the year and second straight top ten finish in the WCC Championship as she tied for sixth overall (10-over-226/76,77,73) in 2022.
- Wrapping up the season with her best performance of the year, Shang remained alongside Mission throughout the tournament as she tallied her first top ten finish as a Don by shooting (3-over-219/71,75,73) across her three rounds. After round one, the Fresno State transfer was tied fore fifth (-1/71) before firing a 75 in round two to tie for seventh at 2-over-146 (71,75) heading into the final day of action. Staying stead on Saturday, Shang closed out the tournament by shooting aa 73 (+1) to tie for eighth overall. Notably, the sophomore recorded the fourth-most birdies (10) overall in the field while also tallying 31 total pars.
- Finishing strong with her best round on the final day, Eva Pett climbed the leaderboard four spots on Saturday as the freshman finished fifteenth overall by shooting 6-over-222 (78, 73, 71). Overall, the Denver native logged her first collegiate hole-in-one as she sunk the shot on hole 12 in round three. Notably, Pett recorded 34 total pars and seven birdies in her first conference tournament appearance.
- Suiting up in the green and gold for the final time, Jade Siphomsay finished 22nd overall with a three-round total of 13-over-229 (78, 72, 79). Overall, the graduate student's 38 total pars were tied for the second-most in the field as she also totaled three birdies.
- Rounding out the lineup for USF, Hannah Zeman shot 23-over-167 (85, 82) before Toni Sottile subbed into her spot for the final round on Saturday. For Sottile, the senior shot a 77 (+5) across her 18 holes to close out the tournament. Overall, Zeman tallied 16 pars and one birdie while Sottile collected eight pars and three birdies.
