SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. – Head coach
Chris Brown and the University of San Francisco men's soccer program officially announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023 regular season on Wednesday afternoon.
"We are thrilled about our upcoming season," said Brown. "We return some special impact payers and have key student-athletes returning from injury. On top of the returners, we have a great class coming in that will make this group very competitive. Our nonconference schedule will be a great test as we play the Big West champions and two strong Pac-12 teams. The WCC will once again be strong this year, but our group will be ready for it."
USF will welcome seven new student-athletes to the Hilltop this fall as the Dons prepare for another challenge in the WCC this season: Kaleb Afsari (Midfielder/Sacramento United),
Ian Burrows (Goalkeeper/Victoria, British Columbia), Will Krause (Goalkeeper/Real Colorado), Chris Maldonado (Forward/Marin FC), Constantinos Michaelides (Attacker/UCLA), Ramon Munoz Jr. (Wingback/Georgia State), Rylan Smith (Defender/Real Colorado) and Alex Solomis (Midfielder/Nicosia, Cyprus).
Additionally, USF will return 20 student-athletes from last year's team, including All-WCC Second Team selection
Max Hamelink and Honorable Mention + All-Freshman Team member
Reid Roberts.
Entering his third year as head coach,
Chris Brown will aim to build off a successful nonconference schedule in 2022 as the Dons started 5-0-2 through their first seven matches last fall, marking the program's best start to a season since 1991.
In total, USF is set to compete in 19 total matches – 2 exhibitions, 10 nonconference matches and 7 conference matches – 12 home matches and 7 road matches.
