COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The University of San Francisco women's golf team earned a stellar second-place finish at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational, wrapping up its second tournament of the season Tuesday afternoon.
On the tournament's final day, the Dons tallied a seven-under-par 278 to move up two spots on the leaderboard.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Eva Pett was solid from start to finish, ending the tournament in second place on the player leaderboard with a seven-under-par 206 (69-70-67). Recording her best finish at the collegiate level, Pett posted a career-low four-under-par 67 in the final round, recording six birdies and only two bogies.
- Toni Sottile moved up eight spots on the player leaderboard during the tournament's final round, shooting a three-under-par 68, finishing in the tie for 11th with a score of one-over-par 214 (70-76-68). Sottile finished the tournament with 15 birdies, leading the team and ranking second among 73 competitors.
- Hannah Zeman, Riana Mission, and Yvonne Shang rounded out the team scoring for the Dons, with Zeman finishing in a tie for 22nd place after shooting a five-over-par 218 (74-74-70). Mission and Shang tied for 34th with a 10-over-par 223.
- Jolie Chee, competing as an indivdual, finished in a tie for 32nd with a nine-over-par 222 (70-76-76).
CATCHING UP WITH COACH SARA DOELL:
"What an exciting day to come back and shoot six under par to jump to second place in the field," Head Coach
Sara Doell said. "I am impressed with the composure and strength the entire team showed today. "
"Eva played solid from start to finish, which is her best college performance to date," Doell conitnued. "Toni also had one of her best performances to date, shooting three under par today. She's swinging the club well and looks extremely confident on the golf course."
UP NEXT:
San Francisco returns to action on Monday, Oct. 9, when it travels to New Mexico to compete in the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico State. The three-day tournament will be played at the New Mexico State Golf Course & Club House.
