NEW YORK - Major League Soccer (MLS) announced on Tuesday the 44 invitees for the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase, which will take place from Dec. 11-14 in San Diego, Calif. The four-day talent evaluation event will give technical staffs from each MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2025, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 20 at 11:00 am PT/2:00 p.m. ET.

For San Francisco, Reid Roberts was one of 44 invitees nationally to earn the honor.

"Since arriving on the Hilltop as a freshman, Reid has worked relentlessly to refine every aspect of his game, establishing himself as one of the premier defenders in the nation. Over the past three years, his consistency has been undeniable: he has started every game of his career and played every single minute this season, demonstrating durability, work ethic, and professionalism. Reid continues to be an exemplary leader for our program, and his commitment to excellence has earned him this invite to the MLS Combine."
 
Throughout his three-year career at San Francisco, Roberts has started in all 50 games he has appeared in as he has helped rebuild a formidable back line for the green and gold. Overall, the Fort Collins, Colo. native has totaled 4,446 minutes on the pitch for USF to go along with seven points, three assists, two goals and 27 shots, 13 of which were on goal. For these efforts, Roberts is a three-time WCC All-Conference selection - twice on the First Team (2023 + 2024) and once named an Honorable Mention (2022). In his debut season on the Hilltop, he also was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team.
 
This fall, Roberts became the first Don to win WCC Defensive Player of the Year since Rob Valentino in 2005. Notably, he was the only student-athlete to play every minute of every match for San Francisco this season as his 1,530 total minutes led the team in 2024. As a team captain, Roberts guided the Dons five shutouts this year, including the team's second straight win over a top 10 Stanford team. Offensively, Roberts finished with a career-high three assists on the campaign as the defender logged assists in San Francisco's win at LMU and Saint Mary's.
 
The eligible player list for MLS SuperDraft 2025 will be announced at a later date following the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase.
