SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. –
Riana Mission,
Eva Pett, and
Yvonne Shang, after a successful regular season and helping guide the University of San Francisco women's golf team to a second-place finish at the WCC Championships, were named to the West Coast Conference All-Conference Team, announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
For San Francisco, the announcement marks the third year in a row where at least two team members have earned a place on the league's prestigious list. Mission and Shang earned a place for the second straight season, while Pett appears for the first time after a successful sophomore campaign.
Leading the Dons throughout the season, Mission, a three-time member of the All-WCC Team, accumulated four top-10 finishes throughout the 2023-24 regular season, including grabbing first at The Clash at Boulder Creek at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 22 – Tuesday, Oct. 24. Tying her career-best of 11-under-par on the way to her second-career tournament victory, Mission finished the tournament shooting under 70 in every round for the first time in her three-year career.
Shang improved throughout the campaign, becoming a regular starter after the conclusion of the fall portion of the schedule. Appearing in eight tournaments, Shang had her best showing at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Sunday, Mar. 17 – Tuesday, Mar. 19, when she shot a two-over-par 218. In the final round of the event, Shang posted a season-best three-under-par 69 en route to a 26th-place finish out of the 95-member field.
Pett totaled three straight top-10 finishes in the fall, having her best outing at the Coeur D'Alene Invite on Sunday, Sept. 24 – Tuesday, Sept. 26. Pett shot a season-best four-under-par 67 in the final round to finish in second place with a seven-under-par 206. Following with two under-par tournaments, Pett grabbed a tie for sixth place at the Golf Iconic Classic and a tie for fifth at The Clash at Boulder Creek.
The trio shined at the WCC Championships last weekend, highlighted by Mission and Pett earning a tie for fifth place at five-over-par 221. Mission climbed back from an early hole and finished the final round with a two-under-par 70, while Pett also shot a 70 in the final round, rising three spots to conclude the event.
Shang was steady throughout the tournament, shooting a seven-over-par 223 to earn her first top-10 finish of the season.
