Mission Selected as Individual Qualifier for NCAA Tournament

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Riana Mission, a standout junior for the University of San Francisco women's golf team, punched her ticket as an individual qualifier to the Cle Elum Regional for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship.

"What a fantastic moment it was to see Riana's name go up as she earned an at-large bid to compete at the NCAA regionals," Head Coach Sara Doell said. "She has worked incredibly hard on her swing, putting, and mental approach to the game this year. I am so proud of her and look forward to supporting her as she represents San Francisco at the Cle Elum Regional at Tumble Creek Club."

Making her second appearance as an individual qualifier in the previous three years, Mission last competed as an individual following a successful freshman season in 2022. Contending against the nation's best golfers at the Stanford Regional, Mission completed the three-day event in a tie for 47th place overall and fourth in the individual field.

Mission, slotted as the second-ranked individual in the Cle Elum Regional, joins five other individuals at the Tumble Creek Club on Monday, May 6 – Wednesday, May 8. The 12-team region features #1 Stanford, #11 Duke, #13 Arizona State, #24 Virginia, #25 San Jose State, #35 Washington, #37 Alabama, #48 Virginia Tech, #49 Kansas, #76 Long Beach State, #81 Sacramento State, and #118 Seattle U.

Coming off her third consecutive WCC All-Conference Team selection, Mission guided the Dons throughout the 2023-24 regular season with four top-10 finishes, including grabbing first at The Clash at Boulder Creek at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 22 – Tuesday, Oct. 24. Tying her career-best of 11-under-par on the way to her second-career tournament victory, Mission finished the tournament shooting under 70 in every round for the first time in her three-year career.

At the WCC Championships last weekend, Mission climbed the player leaderboard on the final day, shooting a two-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for fifth place out of the 20-member field with a five-over-par 221.

Mission enters the tournament ranked 69th in the Clippd NCAA Individual Rankings, the highest of her career.
