Dons Picked Third, Riley IV and Beasley Named to WCC Preseason Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference (WCC) officially announced the 2025-26 WCC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll and Preseason All-WCC Team on Thursday afternoon.

For the University of San Francisco (USF), the Dons are picked to finish third as a team, receiving one first-place vote. USF was just one of three teams to receive a vote. Individually, Ryan Beasley and Tyrone Riley IV were named to the Preseason All-WCC Team.

Chris Gerlufsen enters year four as head coach of the Dons after guiding San Francisco to postseason appearances the past two seasons. In 2024-25, USF finished 24-9 overall, including a 13-5 mark in conference play, as the green and gold finished in the top three in the WCC in back-to-back years for the first time in 22 years (2001-02 and 2002-03). The Dons went on to earn a one-seed in the 2025 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) as the host of the San Francisco region, which included a first-round win over Utah Valley.

Riley IV shone in his first year in green and gold as the Watts native finished as the team's leading rebounder with an average of 5.9 rebounds per game. He started in all 31 games for San Francisco as a freshman and began the campaign with four straight double-figure performances, which included being named WCC Freshman of the Week in the opening week of the season. Throughout the year, Riley IV finished in double figures fourteen times, including notching his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in USF's 71-58 win over Pacific on Feb. 20. Notably, he pulled down 10+ rebounds three times last year, including a season-high 13 rebounds against Memphis on Nov. 21 at Chase Center. He earned his second WCC Freshman of the Week honor on Feb. 10 as he was one of five freshmen to win the weekly award at least twice last season.

Beasley, the 2023-24 WCC Freshman of the Year, appeared in 29 games for San Francisco last season, including four starts. His first collegiate start came on Feb. 1, 2025, in a 75-51 win over Washington State, where he finished with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and one steal, including a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Overall, Beasley averaged 9.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals on 44.3 percent from the field and 84.1 percent from the free throw line. His 84.1 free-throw percentage ranked fifth in the conference last year.

Tipoff times for all games will be announced at a later date. Single-game tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here. Season tickets for the 2025-26 season remain on sale to the general public, with prices starting at $216.
