Dons Earn Fourth Straight Win, Sweep Redhawks in Three Sets

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Led by an well-rounded efficient offensive performance, the University of San Francisco volleyball team (7-20, 5-12) earned its fourth straight victory, defeating Seattle U (8-20, 2-15) 3-0 Wednesday evening at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
 
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Falling behind early in a highly competitive first set, San Francisco clawed back to tie the frame at 13 following a 5-0 scoring run. Three kills from Emilija Arsic paced the program during the run, while the defense forced Seattle U into two attack errors.
  • Despite Seattle U holding set point at 24-22, San Francisco won four straight points to secure the opening frame, 26-24.
  • San Francisco built on a set-one win by securing a 25-19 victory in the second set. The Dons took control of the set lead early on at 6-5 and never trailed. The green and gold led by as many as seven points before closing out the set, winning four of the final six points.
  • In the deciding set, the Dons closed with a 25-23 victory to earn the three-set sweep. With the frame tied at 21 late, Taylor Mendez kick-started a rally with two kills while the Redhawks committed two errors as the Dons secured the set and match.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Arsic finished with a team-high 15 kills to lead the Dons' attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .429.
  • Crystal Galaviz, Astrid Puig, Maeve Bailey, and Shannon Knight combined for 18 kills and nine total blocks.
  • Abby Wadas led the backline with 17 of the team's 40 digs.
  • Madison McPherson and Cagla Bengi split time at the setter position, recording 18 and 16 assists, respectively, to lead the team.
  • As a team, San Francisco compiled a .298 hitting percentage, hitting .250 or better for the third straight match.

UP NEXT:
San Francisco concludes the 2025 season at home, when it hosts Washington State at noon on Saturday, Nov. 29, at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
