SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (7-21, 5-13) concluded the 2025 season and dropped a three-set decision to Washington State (17-11, 11-7) Saturday afternoon at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco fell behind early in the match, following a 27-25 first-set loss. In a back-and-forth affair, the set was tied 12 times and featured five lead changes. Despite serving set point at 25-24, the Dons dropped three straight points as the Cougars secured the frame.
- Washington State continued to hold the momentum heading into the second set and earned a convincing 25-14 victory. San Francisco trailed by as many as 11 points throughout the frame as the opposition secured the lead for good at 7-6.
- The green and gold dropped the deciding third set as the Cougars earned the three-set sweep, 25-22. Battling back from a 23-16 deficit, the Dons used a 6-1 scoring run to trim the Cougars' lead to 24-22 before dropping the final point and match.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Emilija Arsic led San Francisco offensively, totaling nine kills and a .389 hitting percentage.
- Cagla Bengi registered a match-best three service aces while Arsic added two.
- In her final collegiate match, Abby Wadas recorded 10 digs to increase her career total to 1,338, fifth most in program history.
- Three players recorded assists throughout the match, with Bengi leading the way with 10. Madison McPherson and Wadas also contributed nine and six, respectively.
