DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco picked up its third straight win in its last time on the hardwood, grinding out a 67-59 win to open West Coast Conference (WCC) play on Sunday evening. USF put together arguably its best defensive performance from wire-to-wire, holding the Redhawks to 27.4 percent (20-73) from the field and 17.4 percent (4-23) from distance.
- Following the win over Seattle U, the Dons climbed from No. 117 to No. 99 in the latest NCAA Net Rankings, which were released on Monday morning. Looking at other national metrics, San Francisco climbed from No. 97 to No. 93 in KenPom and from No. 88 to No. 85 in the latest Bart Torvik rankings.
- Tuesday's contest will be a special one for Guillermo Diaz Graham, who will be suiting up against his twin brother, Jorge Diaz Graham, for the first time at the Division I level. Both brothers spent the first two years of their collegiate careers at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) under head coach Jeff Capel. Off the court, Guillermo and Jorge were named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll both seasons at Pitt.
- The upcoming matchup between San Francisco and Oregon State will mark USF's final WCC game in Corvallis, with the Beavers set to return to the Pac-12 Conference next academic year.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS:
- Coming into conference action with a 7-6 record across their nonconference slate, Oregon State dropped its first contest of WCC play, falling to Santa Clara, 102-64, at home on Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, Josiah Lake (19 points) and Dez White (14 points) both finished in double figures for the Beavers.
- Although Oregon State dropped its first conference game this season, the Beavers are 17-5 at home in their last 22 games, including an upset win over No. 16 Gonzaga (97-89 OT) on Jan. 16, 2025. Notably, OSU is coming off its third 20-win season in the last 35 years, and its second during the Wayne Tinkle era.
- After turning up the defensive pressure at Seattle U, USF will need to be cautious of the Beavers after the halftime break, as Oregon State is shooting 45.7 percent as a team in the second half of games this season. The Beavers are also shooting 76.9 percent from the free throw line through 14 games this year. Last season, Oregon State set a new program record for free throw percentage, shooting 78.6 percent as a unit in 2024-25.
- Similar to San Francisco, the Beavers have student-athletes from ten different countries on their roster, one more than the Dons (9). These countries include the United States, Australia (Stephen Olowoniyi and Yaak Yaak), Canada (Malcolm Christie), Denmark (Johan Munch), Finland (Olavi Suutela), France (Keziah Ekissi and Isaiah Sy), Slovenia (Matija Samar), Spain (J. Diaz Graham), and Turkey (Kaan Yarkut).
SERIES HISTORY:
- Monday will mark the 13th all-time meeting between San Francisco and Oregon State, with the Dons holding a 9-3 advantage in the all-time series heading into the matchup. USF has won its last two games against the Beavers, including a sweep of OSU last season. The green and gold pulled out a victory in the final seconds of last year's meeting in Corvallis, as Veniamin Abosi knocked down the game-winning three-pointer to lift San Francisco to a 74-72 win. Overall, USF is 4-1 all-time in Corvallis.
