DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco has won six of its last seven games, most recently earning a season sweep over Pacific with a 71-58 victory on the Hilltop last Thursday, Feb. 20 on senior night. With the win over the Tigers, the Dons clinched their first undefeated season at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center since the 1980-81 season, winning all 16 games on the Hilltop this season.
- In his final regular season game on campus, Malik Thomas scored a team-high 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, reaching the 20-point mark for the third straight contest and the 14th time this season. Tyrone Riley IV notched his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line.
- Heading into the last week of play before the 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Championship, San Francisco is tied with Gonzaga for the second-best conference record at 12-4, one game ahead of fourth-place Santa Clara (11-5). One more win for San Francisco would clinch a top three seed for the green and gold in the upcoming WCC Tournament.
- A win over Oregon State on Wednesday night would mark the Dons' 13th win of conference play, the program's most since the 2013-14 season when USF went 13-5 in WCC action. A 13th conference victory would, at least, tie the 2013-14 Dons squad for San Francisco's best conference win percentage since the 1981-82 season (11-3, .786).
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS:
- Oregon State has strung together a three-game win streak, winning both contests of a Southern California road trip last week with an 84-78 victory at Pepperdine last Thursday, Feb. 20 followed by an 83-73 win at San Diego last Saturday, Feb. 22.
- Continuing to dominate offensively, junior forward Michael Rataj posted averages of 27.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game on 57.6 percent shooting in the Beavers' two wins last week. For these efforts, Rataj notched his third WCC Player of the Week honor of the season on Monday.
- As a unit, Oregon State has been one of the best shooting teams in conference play as the Beavers rank in the top three in the WCC in field goal percentage (second, 48.9%), free throw percentage (second, 80.1 percent) and three-point percentage (third, 36.7 percent).
- The Beavers have clinched a top five seed in the 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Championship. OSU can finish its first season in the WCC as the third, fourth or fifth seed in the conference tournament, but one more loss for Oregon State would lock the Beavers at the five-seed.
SERIES HISTORY:
Wednesday night will be the first-ever conference matchup in Corvallis between San Francisco and Oregon State and just the ninth all-time meeting between the Dons and the Beavers, with USF holding a 5-3 all-time series lead. Earlier this season, San Francisco took the first contest with an 81-70 victory on the Hilltop on Jan. 18, which saw
Malik Thomas,
Marcus Williams and
Tyrone Riley IV combine for 59 points on 71.4 percent shooting.
