Box Score CORVALLIS, Ore. - The University of San Francisco men's basketball team (23-7, 13-4 WCC) secured a season sweep of Oregon State (20-10, 10-7 WCC) on Wednesday night as clutch heroics from
Marcus Williams and a game-winning three-pointer from
Veniamin Abosi lifted the Dons over the Beavers, 74-72, at Gill Coliseum.
With the win, San Francisco has officially clinched a top three seed in the upcoming 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Championship.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Oregon State grabbed an early lead to start the contest with Parsa Fallah and Michael Rataj each scoring two baskets in the first five minutes to take an 11-5 advantage.
- San Francisco remained within striking distance as Williams, Junjie Wang and Malik Thomas all cashed in from distance to keep the game close, 20-15, with 8:50 to play in the first half.
- Strengthening their lead, the Beavers went on an 11-4 run capped off by a Liutauras Lelevicius three-pointer to take a 31-19 lead with just under four minutes to play in the period.
- Flipping the contest, the Dons came out of the four-minute media timeout on fire. Thomas then ignited a run for the green and gold as the guard converted on all three free throws after being fouled beyond-the-arc. On the next play down, Abosi scored his first bucket of the contest on a shot-clock buzzer-beating layup. Continuing to make an impact off the bench, Saba Gigiberia split two free throws, but an offensive rebound by Abosi led to another Williams trey, cutting the deficit to just three.
- In the final minute, the green and gold closed out the period with a Thomas dunk and a Gigiberia and-one, finishing the first half on a 14-0 run to take a 33-31 advantage into halftime. Notably, San Francisco kept Oregon State scoreless in the final 3:48 of the opening half.
- Coming out of the break, San Francisco kept its foot on the gas as the green and gold scored the first seven points of the half via two Thomas layups and another Williams three-pointer, ballooning its lead to nine, 40-31 with 16:50 remaining. During this stretch, USF held OSU scoreless for nearly seven minutes of game time.
- Oregon State came crawling back as the Beavers knotted up the contest over the next eight minutes. Parsa Fallah got all he could inside the paint, converting on four layups in that stretch, with an Isaiah Sy three-pointer ultimately tying the contest at 51-apiece with 8:54 to play.
- Two free throws and a three-pointer by Josiah Lake II put the Beavers back in front, 56-54 with seven minutes to play, but the Dons quickly regained the advantage with a James O'Donnell and-one and another Gigiberia layup to lead 59-56 with 5:48 remaining.
- Fighting back for OSU, Lelevicius converted on a four-point play to retake a two-point lead, 61-59, with 4:32 to play.
- Williams followed by hitting a huge three-pointer with 3:29 remaining to put the Dons in front 64-62, but Fallah returned the favor with back-to-back buckets to put the Beavers back in front 66-64 with two minutes left.
- Continuing his heroics, Williams scored five points in 35 seconds, including his fifth three-pointer of the night, to put USF up 69-67 with 1:09 remaining.
- On the other end, Damarco Minor converted on an and-one to take a 70-69 lead, but it was short-lived as a Gigiberia offensive rebound led to two Williams free throws for the Dons. Williams cashed in on both foul shots, putting the Dons back in front, 71-70, with 25.7 seconds to play.
- Battling back for Oregon State, Minor found Sy for a layup to put the Beavers back on top, 72-71 with 18.6 to play.
- Without a timeout, San Francisco pushed to the other end of the floor, with Williams finding Abosi on the left wing for what proved to be the game-winning three-pointer. The freshman swished home the triple to put USF back in front, 74-72, forcing Oregon State to call its final timeout with 4.4 seconds to play.
- Searching for a lane to the hoop, Fallah drove baseline for a clean look at a game-tying reverse layup, but Gigiberia did just enough for the layup to come up short. Fallah grabbed his own rebound and rattled in a putback floater, but the shot was released after the final buzzer as San Francisco hung on to outlast Oregon State, 74-72, on Wednesday night.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

- Staying ready off the bench, Gigiberia made a huge impact with a team-high +12 plus-minus as the senior recorded season-highs with 10 points and a team-best seven rebounds on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 shooting from the free throw line in 17 minutes of action.
- Calling game, Abosi's game-winning three-pointer marked just the fifth triple of the season for the freshman (5-of-20). The first-year Dons totaled five points, two rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal in 18 minutes of play.
- Thomas and Riley IV rounded out the double-figure scorers for USF, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively, as both made five baskets and one three-pointer each.
