
Thomas, Williams, Riley IV Awarded All-WCC Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference officially announced its annual end of season awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season on Tuesday morning.
For San Francisco, Malik Thomas and Marcus Williams were both named to the All-WCC Men's Basketball First Team while Tyrone Riley IV was named to the All-WCC Men's Basketball Freshman Team.
MALIK THOMAS (#1/Guard/Fontana, Calif./All-WCC First Team):
Thomas put together a dominant campaign on both sides of the ball this season as the Fontana native finished the regular season leading the WCC in both scoring (19.1 points per game) and steals (1.7 steals per game). Overall, his 527 total points was also tops in the conference and good for 27th in Division I. Throughout the year, Thomas finished with 20 points or more in 14 games, including three 30+ point performances. Notably, he put up a career-high 35 points to will San Francisco to a 76-66 victory against Loyola Chicago at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Dec. 15. Thomas was also efficient at getting to the free throw line this year as he ranked first in the WCC and 15th nationally in made free throws with 156. His 187 free throw attempts also ranked second in the WCC and 35th nationally. Alongside his backcourt mate Marcus Williams, Thomas finished in the top ten (sixth) in the league with 60 made three-pointers this season. For these efforts, Thomas earned WCC Player of the Week honors four times this season. Most recently, Thomas surpassed 1,000 career points in USF's 84-61 win at San Diego on Feb. 15.
This honor marks the second straight season in which Thomas has earned All-WCC recognition after being named a WCC Honorable Mention in 2023-24.
MARCUS WILLIAMS (#55/Guard/Dickinson, Texas./All-WCC First Team):
Williams has displayed his leadership and maturity throughout the season as the senior has developed into a true point guard for San Francisco. This year, the Dickinson, Texas native ranked in the top ten in the conference in field goal percentage (48.3, fourth), three-pointers made per game (2.2, fourth), scoring (15.1 points per game, sixth), assists per game (4.3, seventh), total assists (132) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7, eighth). In total, Williams finished with 20 points or more eight times this season, including in three of the last four games to close out the regular season. He also leads the team in total minutes with 952 minutes so far this year as he has started all 31 games for the green and gold. Notably, his 132 total assists also rank him inside the top 100 (83rd) nationally.
This honor marks the second straight season in which Williams has earned WCC All-Conference First Team recognition after first being named to the list in 2023-24. He was also named Mountain West Freshman of the Year at Wyoming in 2020-21.
TYRONE RILEY IV (#5/Guard/Watts, Calif./All-WCC Freshman Team):
Riley IV impressed in his first year on the Hilltop as the Watts native finished as the team's leading rebounder with an average of 5.9 rebounds per game, which was also good for 15th in the WCC. In total, Riley IV started in all 31 games for San Francisco as a freshman and began the campaign with four straight double figure performances, which included a WCC Freshman of the Week honor in the opening week of the season. Throughout the year, Riley IV finished in double figures fourteen times, including notching his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in USF's 71-58 win over Pacific on Feb. 20. Notably, he pulled down 10+ rebounds three times this year, including a season-high 13 rebounds against Memphis on Nov. 21 at Chase Center. He earned his second WCC Freshman of the Week honor on Feb. 10 as he was one of five freshmen to win the weekly award at least twice this season.
This honor marks the second straight season in which a San Francisco freshman has been named to the WCC All-Freshman team after Ryan Beasley made the prestigious list in 2023-24.
