SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Head coach
Chris Gerlufsen and the University of San Francisco men's basketball program announced today the addition of forward Mookie Cook (Portland, Ore./Oregon).
"Our staff is elated to welcome Mookie Cook to the Hilltop for the 2025-26 season," said Gerlufsen. "Mookie is an impactful, multi-positional player who has a unique combination of athleticism, skill and basketball IQ. We can't wait to start working with Mookie this summer and look forward to big things for him and our program in 2025-26!"
Originally from Portland, Ore., Cook spent the past two seasons at Oregon where he appeared in 29 games for the Ducks under head coach Dana Altman. Notably, he scored a career-high six points in Oregon's 81-52 opening round win over Liberty in this year's NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his stop in Eugene, Cook attended AZ Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz., where he was named a McDonald's All-American in 2023. Rated as a consensus four-star recruit, the 6'6" forward was the 21
st ranked prospect in the ESPN Top 100 and the 40
th ranked prospect by 247Sports. During his senior year, his team went 24-6 overall and finished the season ranked fourth in the ESPN high school top 25. Additionally, he was named to the 2023 Jordan Brand National Team while also being invited to participate in the Team USA U19 training camp that same year.
Cook is the first member of San Francisco's 2025-26 recruiting class.
