Dons Dominate Shot Count, Draw No. 14 Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of San Francisco (USF) men's soccer team (0-1-1) dominated the shot count on Sunday afternoon at No. 14 UNC Greensboro (1-0-1) as the Dons and Spartans finished in a 0-0 draw after a full 90 minutes of action at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- San Francisco opened the match with three straight shots, one each from Jaedyn Walters, Ben Norris, and Brayden Beason.
- Isaiah Easley, Nico Ruiz, David Raphael, and Ben Brody also fired shots for USF, but the Dons were unable to find the back of the net through the opening period. Heading into the halftime break scoreless, the green and gold held a 10-4 advantage in the shot count.
- Much of the same continued in the second half as San Francisco outshot UNCG 7-2 in the final 45 minutes of action.
- Alex Solomis had a chance on frame at 57:42, but was turned away by the opposing goalkeeper. Raphael and Beason followed with back-to-back shots on goal at 67:29 and 68:30, but neither was successful in squeezing past the defense. Beason had one final shot on frame at 78:19, but the Spartans held off the forward once more.
- Stifling UNCG's offense, USF would also keep its opponent off the scoreboard as the match finished in a scoreless draw after an intense 90-minute battle.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Lucas Jones collected five saves for the Dons out of six total Spartans shots.
- San Francisco registered a season-high seven shots on goal, including a season-high three shots on goal from Beason. Overall, USF outshot UNCG 17-6.
- Sunday's draw marked the first clean sheet of the season for USF.
