Jack Kennedy

Jack Kennedy enters his seventh year at the helm of the USF men's golf program in 2023-24 after being promoted from interim head coach in May 2017. Prior to holding the head coaching job, Kennedy also served as an assistant coach for both men's and women's golf at USF.
 
Before his time on the golf course, Kennedy spent several seasons coaching basketball on the Hilltop. From 2008-2012, Kennedy served in various capacities with USF’s men’s basketball program for five seasons. Originally, he served as a graduate assistant coach on Rex Walters’ staff for two seasons (2008-10) before being promoted to director of basketball operations. Kennedy then moved into a full-time coaching capacity in 2012-13 as he served as an assistant coach for one year at San Jose State. Following his lone year with the Spartans, he returned to USF to begin his second stint with the Dons.

Under his leadership on the Hilltop for the 2022-23 season, the Dons returned to Scottsdale for the second time in three years competing in the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championships were they finished a top 20 team in the country. Anderson earned All-American honors. He also was named to the PING All-Region Team: West Region. Three Dons earned All-WCC selections with Melin being named Freshman of the Year. They finished the regular season after recording their fifth top five finish of the year. 

A four-year golf letter winner at Grinnell (Iowa) College, Kennedy earned first team All-Midwest Conference honors in 2006. He also played basketball for the Pioneers under legendary head coach David Arseneault. During his sophomore season, Grinnell led the nation in scoring with a then NCAA-record of 126.2 points per game.
 
Kennedy was also responsible for starting the women’s golf program at The Gregory School, where he attended high school in his hometown of Tucson, Ariz. In their first year of existence, the team qualified for the state tournament. An accomplished player, Kennedy has competed in both the Arizona and California State Amateur Championships.
 
A native of Tucson, Ariz., Kennedy earned his degree in political science from Grinnell in 2006 and his master’s degree from USF’s highly-acclaimed sports management program in 2010. Jack and his wife Kelsey reside in Menlo Park, Calif.
