Malina Terrell Leads Dons With Nine Kills

(San Francisco, CA) – San Francisco volleyball put together a solid effort and swept Loyola Marymount 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 Thursday night in West Coast Conference play at War Memorial Gym. The Dons (13-6, 5-1 WCC) remain perfect at 7-0 on their home floor this season at the expense of the Lions (10-9, 3-3 WCC).
USF got balanced production throughout its lineup with six players recording at least four kills. Sophomore middle blocker Malina Terrell recorded a match-high nine kills on a sizzling .692 attack percentage. Terrell did not have a single error on 13 swings and added two blocks (one solo).
Freshman opposite hitter Vendula Strakova added eight kills and seven digs, while junior outside hitter Jocelyn Levig chipped in seven kills, five digs and a pair of blocks (one solo). Freshman middle blocker Valentina Zaloznik added six kills and four blocks (one solo) for the Dons.
Sophomore setter Joan Caloiaro filled up the stat sheet with 29 assists, four kills, three aces, two blocks (one solo) and 10 digs. Freshman libero Rebecca Kopilovitch recorded a match-high 15 digs, while junior outside hitter Alycia Cox added 10 digs to go along with four kills and an ace.
USF led wire-to-wire in the contest, which featured just seven tie scores. The Dons held a 39-23 kills advantage and their defense limited the Lions to a .048 attack percentage for the night, including a .031 rate in the third set. The Green and Gold capitalized on their chances, including 11 LMU serving errors and USF managed nine service aces.
San Francisco now prepares for its Saturday showdown against league-leading No. 19 Pepperdine. Match time against the Waves is set for 1:00 PM at War Memorial Gym and will feature live streaming video on USFDons.com, courtesy of Stretch Internet.
