Jocelyn Levig Enjoys Big Match For The Dons

(Provo, UT) – San Francisco volleyball battled back from a 2-0 deficit, but could not come all the way back against BYU, dropping a 25-23, 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 West Coast Conference decision Saturday night at Smith Fieldhouse. The Dons (13-12, 5-7 WCC) simply could not slow down the Cougars (20-7, 9-4 WCC) who completed the season sweep and won their fourth straight league contest.
Brigham Young hit at a .314 clip for the match, including a .500 rate in the second set and limited the Dons to a .210 attack percentage. The Cougars held a commanding 12.0 – 4.0 blocking advantage. After struggling at the service line of late, the Green and Gold were much improved, committing just three errors on serves.
Junior outside hitter Jocelyn Levig enjoyed a strong match for the Dons, with a team-high 17 kills on .238 hitting to go along with eight digs and two service aces. Freshman opposite hitter Vendula Strakova added 14 kills on .333 attacking with three aces and a block. Sophomore middle blocker Malina Terrell recorded 11 kills for the Dons, who dropped their sixth straight match – all of them in four sets.
Freshman libero Rebecca Kopilovitch tallied a match-high 21 digs. Freshman middle blocker Valentina Zaloznik added eight kills with three blocks (one solo) for San Francisco.
Jennifer Hamson recorded a match-high 20 kills on .341 hitting to go along with 10 digs and four blocks for BYU. Christie Carpenter added 14 kills and 12 digs, while Kathryn Lecheminant and Casey Thurston added 10 kills apiece for the Cougars.
San Francisco returns to action when it hosts Portland Thursday, November 10. First serve against the Pilots is set for 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym.
