Three Dons Score Double-Digits In Loss To Florida

(San Francisco) - Three Dons scored in double-digits Wednesday as the University of San Francisco women's basketball team dropped a 91-68 decision to Florida at War Memorial Gym. Rheina Ale paced the Dons with 19 points, marking her fifth straight game with 10-plus points.

After falling behind early, San Francisco (1-9) took an early 12-8 lead at 14:07 thanks to a jumper from Ale. Florida (7-2) fired back going on a 17-0 run to take a 13-point, 25-12, lead. During the run, the Gators held the Dons scoreless for nearly five minutes.

Ale led the Dons in the first half with 11 points, while Keating added six. For the half, San Francisco shot .385 from the field, while Florida posted a .455 clip.

Florida held onto the lead through the remainder of the second half. San Francisco improved its shooting in the second stanza, shooting .406 but was unable to overcome the early deficit.

Ale finished the night with a team-leading 19 points, two assists and a steal, while Keating chipped in 14 points. Freshman Aundrea Gordon added a dozen points, marking the first time the guard has posted double-digits in her young career.

Taj Winston led the Dons' defensive attack, posting eight rebounds. She also added six points.

Jennifer George led Florida with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds.

USF will return to the court Sunday, as it makes the trip to Athens, Ohio, to take on the Ohio Bobcats. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m., PST.
