SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco volleyball program hosted a day full of celebration with the annual alumni game, followed by the team banquet.

The 2011 Dons bested the alumni team 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in War Memorial Gym.

USF's current squad won the first game 25-21, before cruising to a 25-11 win in game two. After two games, the match became increasingly more competitive and began to feature lengthy rallies.

The alumni squad, powered by middle blocker Carly Babin (2005-08), took the third game 25-19 on a game-point kill from recent alum Sarah Mandala (2007-10). USF's current squad came back to win the fourth game 25-19 to take the match.

Later that night, nearly 70 people gathered at Lone Mountain for the volleyball program's banquet to celebrate the 2010 season.

Redshirt sophomore Erin Kilroy earned the team's Scholar Athlete Award for the second year in a row. Sophomore Leanna Ludes was awarded the Green and Gold Award.

Freshman Joan Caloiaro was recognized for being named Honorable Mention All-West Coast Conference and to the league's All-Freshman Team.

The team said good-bye to seniors Alaina Sully and Sarah Mandala.

USF's spring volleyball season continues with a scrimmage at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at Stanford.
