USF WELCOMES PORTLAND: San Francisco returns home after a tough West Coast Conference road trip to take on Portland Thursday, January 12. Tip-off against the Pilots is set for 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym in a game carried live on USFDons.com via Stretch Internet.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE DONS: San Francisco battled, but could not overcome a strong offensive performance by league-leading Saint Mary's and dropped a 87-72 decision.

Angelo Caloiaro enters Thursday's game against Portland ranked No. 28 on the USF career scoring list with 1,049 points (9.4 ppg). Next up is Johnny Burks (1969-72) at No. 27 with 1,051 (13.5 ppg).

SCOUTING PORTLAND: The Pilots enter their third week of West Coast Conference play with a 5-11 overall record, bur have won two of three league contests. Portland is fresh off a home sweep of Santa Clara (84-74) and Pepperdine (54-43). The Pilots suffered a 90-51 blowout in Spokane against defending league champion Gonzaga before bouncing snapping a seven-game losing streak against the Broncos. After serving as an understudy last year, sophomore forward Ryan Nicholas leads the Pilots in scoring (11.3) and rebounds (7.9). Sophomore guard Tim Douglas adds 9.9 points and a team-high 3.3 assists, while senior sharpshooter Nemanja Mitrovic adds 9.6 points. Eric Reveno is in his sixth overall season as the top Pilot and owns a 84-92 overall record as a Division I head coach - all at Portland. The former Stanford assistant has guided the Pilots to three consecutive College Basketball Insiders postseason berths. Portland posted a 20-12 record last season and finished fifth in the WCC at 7-7. Reveno has guided the Pilots to consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in program history.

CALOIARO JOINS ELITE GROUP: Senior forward
Angelo Caloiaro joined an elite group when he surpassed 1,000 career points on New Year's Eve against Loyola Marymount in the 2011-12 West Coast Conference home opener. Caloiaro scored a game-high 26 points and became the 31st player in program history to score more than 1,000 points for the Green and Gold, finishing the night with 1,005.
