USF TAKES ON SAINT MARY'S MONDAY: San Francisco concludes a challenging West Coast Conference road trip when it  travels to the East Bay to take on ancient Bay Area rival Saint Mary's Monday, January 9. Game time against the Gaels is set for 7:00 PM at McKeon Pavilion in a game carried live on Comcast SportsNet California. The Dons look for their elusive first league win of the season against the Gaels who have won the last 11 meetings in the series.

DONS VS. GAELS
- USF squares off against ancient Bay Area and WCC rival Saint Mary's for the 171st time Saturday night.
- Saint Mary's has taken the last 11 meetings in the series and 16 of the last 18 contests against the Dons.
- USF lost its 11th straight in the series in a 86-68 loss 2/12/11. Michael Williams & Rashad Green scored 19 each.
- Michael Williams led USF with 17 points and Moustapha Diarra added 11 points in the last meeting at SMC, a 71-57 loss (1/13/11).
- USF's last win in the series came in a 53-52 triumph at War Memorial Gym (1/16/06). Jerome Gumbs scored a team-high 14 points and Alan Wiggins, Jr. added 13 points and nine boards for the Dons.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE DONS: San Francisco struggled mightily shooting the basketball and Brigham Young sizzled offensively en route to a 81-56 win Saturday at the Marriott Center. Junior guard Michael Williams scored 10 points for USF.

MOVING ON UP: Senior forward Angelo Caloiaro enters Monday's game at Saint Mary's ranked No. 29 on the USF career scoring list with 1,029 points (9.3 ppg). Next up is Tim Owens (1990-92) at No. 28 with 1,046 (18.0 ppg).

- At 10-4, USF posted its best non-conference record since opening 1999-00 with a 12-1 start
- Since opening the 2010-11 season with a 4-9 record, San Francisco owns a 25-13 mark
- Dating to the start of West Coast Conference play last season, the Dons own an 11-3 record in games decided by three points or less or in overtime
- USF dropped to 10-2 in overtime games under head coach Rex Walters with a 77-76 OT home loss to Loyola Marymount (12/31/11)
- San Francisco is 20-6 at War Memorial Gym since the start of the 2010-11 season
- The Dons scored a season-high 54 points in the second half at Holy Cross (12/22/11) and forced a season-high 28 turnovers
- USF owns a 538-353 advantage in paint scoring through 17 games
- The Dons lead the league in steals (8.4) (three players rank in the top-10) and turnover margin (+1.76)
- USF also ranks in the top-four in the WCC in scoring (72.3/4th) & field goal percentage (.446/4th)

CALOIARO JOINS ELITE GROUP: Senior forward Angelo Caloiaro joined an elite group when he surpassed 1,000 career points on New Year's Eve against Loyola Marymount in the 2011-12 West Coast Conference home opener. Caloiaro scored a game-high 26 points and became the 31st player in program history to score more than 1,000 points for the Green and Gold, finishing the night with 1,005.

SCOUTING SAINT MARY'S: The Gaels continue to cement their reputation as one of the top teams in the West Coast Conference and in Northern California with a 14-2 record. Saint Mary's enters Monday's game atop the league standings (3-0) after a 78-72 road win at San Diego on Thursday. Saint Mary's ranks in the top-two among West Coast Conference leaders in nearly every offensive category, including scoring (76.2/2nd)) field goal percentage (.472/2nd) and scoring margin (+17.6/1st). Senior forward Rob Jones leads the way for SMC and averages a double-double with 15.2 points and a team-high 10.6 rebounds. Junior guard Matthew Dellavedova adds 14.4 points and 6.6 assists per game. Randy Bennett is in his 11th season in Moraga and owns a 222-114 record as the lead Gael. The winningest coach in Saint Mary's hoops history, Bennett guided SMC to the program's first NCAA Sweet-16 appearance in 2010 and an NIT berth last season. Overall, Bennett has led the Gaels to the postseason five times with three NCAA Tournament berths (2005, 2008 & 2010) and collected two wins in the 2009 NIT Tournament.
