(Moraga, CA) – San Francisco rallied from a big second half deficit, but could not come all the way back against league-leading Saint Mary's, dropping a 87-72 loss Monday night in West Coast Conference action at McKeon Pavilion. The Dons (10-8, 0-4 WCC) could only temporarily slow down the hot-shooting Gaels (15-2, 4-0 WCC).

Senior forward Angelo Caloiaro led three Dons in double-digit scoring with 20 points on 8-of-12 from the field. Sophomore forward Cole Dickerson enjoyed his best night for the Green and Gold with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 from the floor. Junior forward Perris Blackwell added 12 points and six rebounds on a big night for the Dons front line.

USF shot a respectable .477 (31-65) for the contest, but were cold from 3-point range converting on just 3-of-10 from deep. Saint Mary's sizzled connecting on .673 (33-49) for the game and .579 (11-19) from long distance as it won its 12th straight in the series against the Dons.

Four Gaels turned in double-digit nights, led by Matt Dellavedova who poured in a game-high 27 points, 21 coming after the intermission and made six 3-pointers. Rob Jones added 18 points and nine rebounds for SMC.

Down 22 with 11:00 remaining in the second period, San Francisco chipped away and cut the deficit to 10, 82-72 with 1:32 to go on a Dickerson lay-up. The Dons could not cut it to single digits as the Gaels converted at the line with USF forced to foul.

San Francisco returns to action when it hosts Portland Thursday, January 12. Game time against the Pilots is set for 7:00 PM at War Memorial Gym in a game broadcast live on USFDons.com via Stretch Internet.
