SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco women's volleyball team was recognized for its academic achievement with three women making the West Coast Conference All-Academic team, announced today.
Two USF set the standard of high grade point average, earning a stellar mark of 3.96.
Rebecca Kopilovitch, a redshirt sophomore from Israel, and
Valentina Zaloznik, a sophomore from Ljubno ob Savinji, Slovenia, both pace the 12 honorees and set the academic benchmark for the group. Zaloznik was also named to the CoSIDA academic all-district team, released on Nov. 8.
Joining Kopilovitch and Zaloznik on the All-Academic team is senior
Jocelyn Levig, who maintains a 3.78 gpa in her design classes while leading the Dons on the court in kills. Kopilovitch paced the team in digs with 522 while Zaloznik's 78 total blocks led the way for USF.
Seniors
Alycia Cox and
Leanna Ludes both earned their second-consecutive honorable mention nod to round out USF's student-athletes recognized for their work in the classroom. With a total tally of five, the Dons are only matched by San Diego for total number of women to be honored by the conference.
In order to be considered for the WCC all-academic team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or above in academic standing and provide a significant contribution to the team while on the court.
