USF Drops 5-0 Decision at Portland in Season Finale

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -- USF's women's soccer team concluded its 2012 season this evening by dropping a 5-0 decision to the 22nd-ranked Portland Pilots at Merlo Field.
 
The Dons finish their season with an overall mark of 7-8-4 and 2-5-1 in the West Coast Conference, while the Pilots improve to 11-4-4 and 5-1-2 in the WCC.
 
Portland built a 3-0 lead at intermission and added two second half scores for the final 5-0 count. The Pilots outshot the Dons 28-5 while USF goalkeeper Megan Connor was credited with five saves.
 
Rebekah Kurle accounted for Portland's first two goals of the match. Her shot from inside the box off a Kendall Johnson assist got the Pilots on the board at the 2:38 mark of the first half.
 
Kurle came back at the 13:27 mark for her second goal of the game off an assist by Amanda Frisbee.
 
Emily Sippel made it 3-0 at the 20:43 mark when her short tap in off assists by Frisbee and Michelle Cruz found the back of the net.
 
Sippel added another goal at the 76:33 mark of the second half when she buried a deflection off the cross bar to give the Pilots a 4-0 advantage.
 
Develyn Jeter closed the scoring at the 85:36 mark when her shot from nine yards out on the left wing beat O'Connor.
