The Dons were plagued by a deadly combination of poor shooting by the Green and Gold and 50 percent shooting by the Matadors from beyond the arc. The Dons fell behind fast, as the Matadors jumped out to a 20-4 lead swishing its first six 3-point attempts. Notre Dame de Namur (1-5) is also looking to erase the taste of defeat after falling to Dominican 70-66 on Saturday. The Argonauts were felled by a game-winning three with 15 seconds to play. In It to Win It USF's 4-4 start is the best beginning of a season since the Jennifer Azzi era began in 2010-11. For the senior class, the record equals their freshman year start, when the team maintained a .500 record for the first eight games before finishing 6-29 overall. Know the Foe Notre Dame de Namur led by a sophomore guard Taylor Dewees' 8.8 points per game. In the Argonauts last outing, Dewees led the way with 20 points on 7-for-16 shooting, and she was 6-of-12 from 3-point range. Notre Dame de Namur participates in the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference, which includes schools from California, Hawaii, Utah and Arizona. Along with Notre Dame de Namur, other Bay Area schools in the conference are Academy of Art (San Francisco), Holy Names (Oakland) and Dominican (San Rafael). Notre Dame de Namur, the first college in the state of California authorized to grant the baccalaureate degree to women, was charted in 1868 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Originally a school for women, the College of Notre Dame, as it was then referred to, became coeducational in 1969. USF and Notre Dame de Namur – The Series This marks the first meeting between the Dons and the Argonauts, despite being separated by just 25.2 miles. USF's record against other schools that currently participate in the Pacific West Conference is 2-1, with two meetings between the Dons and Academy and Art and one matchup against BYU-Hawaii. Cal State Northridge Remix USF was led by Mel Khlok's 13-point outing. The senior from Sacramento has led the team in scoring on four occasions this season, climbing into double-figures in six games. After allowing the Matadors to sink 45.9 percent of its shots on Wednesday, the Dons slipped to second in the conference in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 34.8 percent from the field this season. Conference Superlatives Khlok leads the conference in total minutes played (301) and minutes per game (37.6). She ranks second in the WCC in steals per game (3.0) and fifth in 3-point field goals per game (2.0) Taj Winston's 2.8 offensive rebounds a game is good for 5th in the league and Taylor Proctor's 4.9 defensive boards puts her in eighth overall. Freshman Zhane Dikes is 10th in overall field goal percentage, hitting 46.8 percent of her attempts this season.
