Two Tradition-Rich Programs Collide Tuesday Night
USF (4-1, 0-0 WCC) wraps up its three-game homestand Tuesday night when the Dons play host to the St. John's Red Storm (6-2, 0-0 Big East). Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
The Dons are coming off a 78-68 victory over Montana last Friday night and have won four straight after a season-opening loss to Stanford.
The Red Storm ran its record to 6-2 with a 57-49 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology and has won four straight following a 97-78 loss to Baylor on Nov. 18.
USF-St. John's Series
USF trails the all-time series with St. John's, 2-4. The two schools last met on Dec 31, 2000, with St. John's scoring a 92-77 victory in New York.
St. John's also posted a 80-78 victory in its last trip to Memorial Gymnasium on Dec. 9, 1995.
USF's two wins in the series came in 1969-70 (67-60) and 1976-77 (80-70). St. John's also owns victories over USF on Dec. 22, 1949 (60-44) and Dec. 30, 1950 (67-47).
USF and St. John's will play the second game of this home-and-home series next year in New York.

Cole Dickerson posted his fourth double-double of the season finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds to pace USF to its fourth straight win.
De'End Parker (16), Tim Derksen (18) and
Cody Doolin (14) also reached double figures.
USF led by six at intermission (30-24) and held a five point lead at 63-58 with 3:39 left before going on a 9-0 run to take command at 72-58 with 1:16 left.
USF shot 50 percent from the floor and outrebounded its fifth straight opponent.
Dickerson Doubling Down
Junior forward
Cole Dickerson is averaging 14.8 points and 15.0 rebounds a game after five games. He currently leads the nation in rebound average, ahead of Siena's O.D. Anosike (13.3).
Dickerson has posted four double-doubles in five games this season, including his last game against Montana, when he scored a team-high 19 points to go along with 20 rebounds.
Other double-doubles came against Stanford (11-19), Cal State-East Bay (14-15) and Columbia (10-14). He had 20 points and seven rebounds at American.
He also posted double-doubles in both exhibition games against San Francisco State (21-15) and UNC-Pemboke (24-10).
Dickerson averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.0 rpg in 34 games last season, including one start.
Parker Tops Balanced Scoring Column
Junior guard De'End Parker leads USF in scoring afer five games with a 19.4 per game average, which ranks fourth among all WCC players.
Parker has scored in double figures in all five games this season, topped off by a career-high 31 point effort in USF's win over Columbia in which he converted on 12-of-18 shots from the floor, including 2-of-4 from three-point range.
Parker is shooting 52.9 percent from the floor, including 70.6 percent (12-for-17) from three-point range, and ranks first in the conference and second nationally in three-point percentage.
Parker grew up two blocks from the USF campus, attended Lincoln High School and City College of San Francisco before spending one season at UCLA.
What's Doolin
Junior point guard
Cody Doolin ranks second in the WCC in assists per game (5.6) and also leads all players in minutes played per game (36.6).
With seven assists Saturday vs. Montana, Doolin ran his career total to 277, moving past the late Quintin Dailey (1979-82) into ninth place on the school's all-time assist chart.
For his career, Doolin has a 2.1 assist (277) to turnover (127) ratio.
The Four D's
USF's Four D's -- De'End Parker,
Cole Dickerson, Tim Derksen and
Cody Doolin -- have accounted for 75.7 percent (272 of 359) of the team's scoring and 62 percent (127 of 205) of its rebounding total in the early going.
Parker or Dickerson have taken high-point honors in four of the five games, while Dickerson has led the team in rebounding in all five contests.
Doolin has scored in double-figures in three of five games and leads the team in minutes played (183) and ranks second in the conference in assist average (5.6).
Derksen has started all five games as a freshman and is coming off a career-high 18 point scoring effort against Montana.
Strange Combination
Cole Dickerson, who leads the nation in rebound average at 15.0 per game, also ranks sixth in the WCC in three-point percentage at 44.3 (5-12).
Board Work
USF has outrebounded each of its first five opponents and currently rank second in the the WCC in rebound average (41.0) and rebound margin (+11.4; 41.0-29.6).
The Dons held a 45-29 advantage on the glass against Stanford and outrebounded CS East Bay (50-39), American (28-19), Columbia (40-28) and Montana (42-33).
USF is averaging 10.5 offensive boards a game while limiting opponents to 6.0 second chances per contest.
Cole Dickerson currently leads the nation in rebounding with a 15.0 per game average.
Last season, USF averaged 33.2 boards a game and finished fifth in the WCC in rebound margin at +0.9.
Shooting 50 Percent

De'End Parker leads the WCC and ranks second nationally in three-point percentage (70.6; 12-for-17). Three other players are also shooting 40 percent or better from three-point range including

Defense
After giving up a season-high 74 points to Stanford in the season-opener, USF has held its last four opponents under 70 points, including three under 60.
The Dons rank third in the WCC in scoring defense, allowing just 62.4 points a game.

Eight players have made their USF debuts so far this season, including freshmen Tim Derksen, Coltin Gelb, Matt Christiansen, Avry Holmes, Tao Xu and redshirt freshman
Mark Tollefsen.
De'End Parker, who spent last year at UCLA and Frank Rogers, who played at Cabrillo College, have also made their USF debuts this season.

USF is 3-0 at home this season and boasts a 37-13 (.740) record in its last 50 home games dating back to the 2009-10 season.

After four straight losing seasons, USF has posted back-to-back winning campaigns each of the last two seasons, combining for a 39-29 record.
