Just the Facts, Ma'am
  • San Francisco started off the month of December with a bang—by “Messing with Texas (San Antonio)” on Sunday and nabbing a 61-60 overtime win.
  • The Dons road to their first road victory came off the banner game by freshman Taylor Proctor, who posted her first career double-double while sinking two free throws to tie it in regulation and swishing the buzzer-beating game winner five minutes later. She finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds while playing 44 minutes.
  • Cal State Northridge's last outing was a  73-63 loss at San Jose State to drop to 4-3 on the season. The Matadors' starting center who leads the team in rebounds and blocks, Camille Mahlknecht, was limited to just eight minutes in the game, with three rebounds and no points scored.

Know the Foe
  • Cal State Northridge is led by a trio of double-digit scorers on offense in Ashlee Guay (14.4 ppg), Marta Masoni (14.3 ppg) and Janae Sharpe's 10.0 points per game off the bench. Sharpe, who has played just two games this season after returning recently from a lower body injury led the Matadors with 16 points in the team's loss to San Jose State.
  • Northridge participates in the Big West Conference, as do five other USF foes this season. Thus far, the Dons have played Hawaii, UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton, The team has yet to play Cal Poly (Dec. 18) and Pacific (Dec. 29) to round out the six WCC vs. Big West contests on the 2012-13 schedule.

USF and Cal State Northridge – The Series
  • The Dons have bested the Matadors in three out of the four previous meetings in the overall series. USF posted wins in its first three meetings in the 1990's before falling in the most recent matchup, a 67-59 affair to open last season's slate at War Memorial Gym on Nov. 11.
  • In that game, USF struggled with 28.6 percent shooting from the floor and the Matadors benefitted from four double-digit scoring efforts.

Tenacious D
  • The Dons stout defense holds opponents to 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 24.3 percent from beyond the arc. This mark ranks tied for 24th in the nation, and bests some formidable teams in the national Top 25 rankings.
  • USF's opponent field goal percentage mark surpasses teams like No. 3 Baylor and Brittney Griner, No. 6 Georgia, No. 16 Oklahoma State and No. 21 North Carolina, to name a few.

Texas-San Antonio Remix
  • Taylor Proctor's banner day included a plethora of season– and career-high marks. Along with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 44 minutes, she was 4-for-5 from the line, including the game-tying free throws with 1.4 seconds to play. Her five trips to the line set a new high along with her four offensive and 10 defensive rebounds.
  • The win by the Dons marked UTSA's first home loss of the season, after besting all of its opponents in its first five outings held at the Convocation Center.
