Dons Welcome Ryan Eppley (Southampton, PA) and Liam Kelly (Bellevue, WA)

(San Francisco) – San Francisco Men's Soccer is pleased to announce the signings of 6-1 attacking midfielder Ryan Eppley (Southampton, PA) to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and 5-11 forward Creighton transfer Liam Kelly (Bellevue, WA) to a scholarship agreement for the 2012 season as announced today by head coach Erik Visser. This is the first group of signings for the Dons and more are anticipated in the coming weeks.
"We are very pleased to welcome a pair of exceptionally talented individuals to the men's soccer program at the University of San Francisco," Visser said. "Ryan and Liam will play a key role in elevating the program. They will both add to the strength of our attack. We have added more punch to a team that returns a lot of scoring options."
RYAN EPPLEY – 6-1, FR., MIDFIELDER (SOUTHAMPTON, PA/TENNENT HS)
Eppley enjoyed a strong prep career at William Tennent High School, capturing All-Suburban One League First Team honors. An all-star selection, Eppley totaled nine goals and 13 assists for the Panthers under the direction of head coach Luke Gibson.
A successful club player, Eppley played seven seasons in the Philly Soccer Club and helped the team capture back-to-back state championships (2009-10) and a Regional One Championship in 2010.
COACH VISSER ON EPPLEY: Ryan is a very versatile athlete. He is an attacking, creative midfielder. He can also play up front. Ryan is very smart and brings great toughness."
LIAM KELLY - 5-11, JR., FORWARD (BELLEVUE, WA/CREIGHTON)
Kelly brings a wealth of elite collegiate and international experience to the Hilltop as a student-athlete at perennial national power Creighton and as a member of the U-20 Canada National Team. A two-year letter-winner for the Bluejays, Kelly appeared in 39 matches with three starts and recorded a goal and a pair of assists. Kelly captured Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshmen honors in 2010.
No stranger to soccer on the big stage, Kelly played in all six NCAA Tournament matches, including a trip to the 2011 College Cup. All told Kelly logged 122 minutes of postseason action for the Bluejays.
A heavily decorated club player, the Ottawa-born Kelly earned two caps for Team Canada in 2010 competing against Japan and Senegal.
COACH VISSER ON KELLY: "Liam comes from a very successful program at Creighton. He led the nation in scoring as a member of the Crossfire Academy team in Seattle. Liam is going to be a very good scoring threat for the Dons in the Fall."
