Men's Soccer Falls To Stanford In Season Opener

Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Almost 1,500 fans turned out Friday night as the University of San Francisco men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 season-opening decision to Stanford at Negoesco Stadium in San Francisco.
 
Stanford struck early, as Aaron Kovar scored a quick goal at 1:17.
 
Both teams played a physical match, with 33 fouls and six yellow cards handed out.
 
San Francisco battled back late in the second half, missing a handful of close shots in the final minutes.
 
The Dons offense was paced by Mauricio Diaz De Leon, who tallied three shots.
 
The reigning West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, Brendan Roslund, collected five saves on the evening for the Green and Gold.
 
San Francisco returns to the pitch Sunday as they travel to San Jose State at 7:00 p.m.
