Just the Facts, Ma'am
  • San Francisco (8-10, 1-4 WCC) continued to struggle on the road, shooting 29.5 percent at Loyola Marymount en route to a 50-65 hit at the hands of the Lions. The Dons hope a short trip to Santa Clara can cure the road blues, as USF's only wins away from War Memorial Gym have been at Texas San Antonio and at Cal Poly.
  • Santa Clara (11-6, 3-1 WCC) had some shooting woes of its own in their Thursday trip to Malibu, but managed to squeak out the 38-36 win over Pepperdine. The defense-dominated game saw the teams shoot a combined 31-of-122, or 25.4 percent. The 3-1 start to conference play is Santa Clara's best since 2008.

The Price is Right
  • Claudia Price, recent signee to the USF women's basketball team, was nominated to play in the McDonald's All American Games, to be held in Chicago on April 3. The list of over 800 boys and girls from 39 states will be pared down to 24 apiece for the final rosters, which will be announced on ESPNU on Feb. 14.

Devine's Dimes
  • Two of the biggest wins in San Francisco history have taken place at Santa Clara.  The Dons captured their first ever WCC Tournament championship by beating Portland at what was then called Toso Pavilion in 1995.  USF cut the nets down again in '96, also beating Portland on the way to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen!
SCU transformed the old Toso Pavilion  into the Leavey Center in 2000.  The Broncos traded in their ragtop arena for a hardtop one - goodbye revolving doors to maintain the proper air pressure and the cranky old usher who used to yell at people for using the regular exit doors after games!” - USF play-by-play man, George Devine on Santa Clara

Know the Foe
  • The Broncos have a trio of double-digit scorers on the season in Meagan Fulps (11.4 ppg), Ricki Radanovich (10.8 ppg) and Lindsay Leo (10.1 ppg). The expected starting lineup, which includes these three plus Ruta Zurauskyte and Raquel Avila, contributes 45.8 of Santa Clara's 62.1 points a night.
  • After wins against Loyola Marymount and at Pepperdine, the Broncos enter Saturday's contest riding a two-game winning streak.

USF and Santa Clara—The Series

  • The Broncos and the Dons is known as one of the longest rivalries in USF history and dates back to intercollegiate competition as early as 1907. In women's basketball, Santa Clara owns a 45-35 all-time record over USF, and the series inception was in 1976, the first year the Dons began competing in the sport. The Broncos nabbed two victories in last season's competition, a 59-51 win on the Hilltop and a 69-62 win at Santa Clara.

Loyola Marymount Remix

  • Zhane Dikes paced the Dons against the Lions, scoring a career-high 20 points and swishing her first collegiate 3-pointer. The freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., also played her second complete game of the season.
  • Alicia Scafidi pulled down 13 rebounds in the contest to pick up her fifth double-digit rebounding effort of the year. She crashes the glass a team-leading 7.2 times a night.
