STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the 2013 spring season Sunday afternoon, falling to the Pacific Tigers, 4-3, at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts. The loss evens the Dons' record at 1-1 while the Tigers move to 3-1 on the young season.

USF swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point on the day, but the Dons were unable to pull out a pair of tightly-contested singles matches, with UOP's Sem Verbeek and Daniel Alameh upending Nils Skajaa and Germain Bahri in three-set affairs out of the four and five slots in the lineup, respectively.

"We lost a heartbreaker to a good UOP team; it came down to the last match," said USF coach Peter Bartlett. "This was our first real test of the season and we just need a few more matches to feel a bit more comfortable in closing out the endings to matches. I think we can learn a lot from the match and make some adjustments in practice that will help us going forward."

The Dons travel south to take on the University of Southern California Trojans out of the Pac-12 Conference on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. before returning home to open West Coast Conference play against the Saint Mary's Gaels on Feb. 6 at 12 p.m. at the Olympic Club.
