Just the Facts, Ma'am
Following up its first campaign with double-digit victories since 2007-08, the University of San Francisco opens the season with a road trip to the East Coast to face off with A-10 foe, Fordham.

Last season when the Dons and Rams met, a trio of USF players finished with double-digit scoring. The Green and Gold narrowly outshot its opponent in the contest, but 13 percent shooting from 3-point range couldn't be overcome as Fordham escaped War Memorial Gym with a seven-point victory.

Know the Foe
Coming off an historic campaign in 2012-13, the Fordham women's basketball team kicks off its 2013-14 season on Friday evening in the Rose Hill Gym. Finishing last season with a 26-9 record and a trip to the WNIT Third Round, the Rams return a strong veteran core headlined by Preseason All-Conference guard Erin Rooney.

Along with being the season opener for Fordham, the game marks head coach Stephanie Gaitley's 800th career game on the bench. Gaitley is in her third season with the Rams.

USF and Fordham - the Series
The Dons and the Rams have met three times, with USF holding a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series. This will mark the first meeting between the two in the Bronx - the Dons won home games in 1990-91 and 1994-95 by scores of 87-63 and 76-51, respectively. In last year's meeting, Fordham posted a 55-48 victory at War Memorial Gym.

Devine's Dimes
"It's great to start our 18th season of connecting listeners with Dons Basketball, and I've been looking forward to the Fordham game since it was announced in 2012.

"One of the first sporting events I attended as a small child happened to be a Seton Hall-Fordham football game in 1973. Fordham won in a squeaker but the game was higlighted by an on-field melee that culminated in the two trainers renewing an old grudge!" - USF play-by-play man, George Devine, on his earliest Fordham memories

Preseason Superlatives
After an exciting freshman campaign in 2012-13, Zhané Dikes was selected to the Preseason All-WCC Team. The Las Vegas, Nev., native, earned her way on the list after a freshman campaign where she averaged 10.8 points on 39.7 percent shooting from the field. She finished the season 13th on the WCC scoring list as the top point-getting freshman in the league.

Dikes also helped the team with 3.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.5 assists as the Dons notched their first double-digit win season since 2007-08. She earned the starting nod for the Dons in all 31 contests, playing the point guard position, and is one of two underclassmen to earn individual preseason honors, as voted on by the league's coaches.
