PORTLAND, Ore.—The Dons played tie-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation but a goal midway through the second half doomed them as they dropped their season finale 1-0 at Portland on Saturday afternoon.

It wasn't until the second half that the Pilots began to find their rhythm. In the 67th minute, Ariel Por Viera's shot was blocked which set up the first of three corner kicks within the next minute. Shortly after the third, Ellen Parker shot from the right wing and put her shot top shelf for the goal.

It was her seventh of the season.

The Dons locked the Pilots down in the first half. Portland entered the week with 34 goals scored and fewer than one goal twice in conference play. They were limited to one shot on goal in the opening period and it came off the foot of Micaela Capelle from in the box.

USF was on the attack themselves. In the 20th minute, Mackenzie Krieser drilled a shot from her familiar left wing but had it saved by Erin Dees. The Portland goalie had a GAA of 0.76 coming into the weekend.

Portland rallied and nearly got on the board in the 37th minute but the shot in the box from Emily Sippel went high.

Madalyn Schiffel had a game-high four saves.

San Francisco wraps up the season at 6-10-4 and a 1-6-2 record in a tough West Coast Conference. It remained competitive this season and five of the Dons' 10 losses came by one goal.

The win for Portland clinched its 13th conference crown.
