UNLV Remix
USF found itself on the winning end of the largest comeback in the
Jennifer Azzi era Friday night against the Lady Rebels. After getting down by as many as 16 points, an offensive putback by
Claudia Price gave USF a one point lead with seconds left.
Taj Winston come up with a defensive rebound as time expired to seal the victory. Las Vegas native
Zhané Dikes led the way against her hometown team with 17 points for the Dons.
What 2 Watch 4
Freshman
Rachel Howard continues her successful season for the Green and Gold, averaging a team-high 14.7 points her game on .448 shooting. She's followed closely by
Taj Winston (12.6 ppg) and
Zhané Dikes (11.9 ppg). Freshman
Claudia Price leaps for a team-high 7.4 rebounds a night to pace the Dons.
Jamie Katuna, a junior from Longmont, Colo., leads WCC in 3-point percentage (.583) after the first month of the season. Howard comes in third in the category, swishing 46.7 percent of her attempts from long range.
Know the Foe - Bakersfield
The Roadrunners are paced by Tyonna Outland's 19.1 points per game on .419 field goal shooting, but the Roadrunners are also helped offensively by Dajy Vines (11.0 ppg), and Melissa Sweat (10.0 ppg). The team's leading rebounder, Batabe Zempare, is nearly averaging a double-double with 12.3 boards and 9.0 points per contest.
The Roadrunners and Dons have faced two common opponents in their non-conference schedules, with Bakersfield dropping games to Cal Poly and UNLV.
USF and Bakersfield - The Series
The Dons and the Roadrunners have never met in regular season competition, as this 2013-14 season marks Bakersfield's first in NCAA Division I. The Roadrunners compete in the Western Athletic Conference, and the team was selected to finish fifth in both the preseason media and coaches polls.

Devine's Dimes
"It's great to see another California school joining the ranks of NCAA Division I as Cal State Bakersfield has done, joining other programs that have made the jump like UC Davis. The Roadrunners had one of America's best Division II programs before elevating to DI. One of USF's best post players of all time, Melinda Harrison, hails from Bakersfield." Devine on the Roadrunners
DISHING AND SWISHING
Jump Around
USF's
Paige Spietz has been solid on the jump, earning the Dons the first possession in the first five games of the year, including exhibitions.
Sixth Woman
Junior
Jamie Katuna closed out the first month of the season on a tear, shooting 57.7 percent from the field and averaging 8.3 points a game off the bench. She is 7-of-12 on the season from beyond the arc and stands at 13-of-16 from the line after seven games.
Line It Up
The Dons have relied on the same starting five for all but one contest - looking to Dikes, Howard, Proctor, Spietz and Winston all but one time this season.
Claudia Price notched her first collegiate start in USF's victory over UNLV on Dec. 6, in place of
Taylor Proctor.
Comeback Kids
The Dons overcame a 16-point deficit to UNLV before roaring back for the 62-61 victory on Dec. 6. The comeback margin in the largest in the
Jennifer Azzi era. USF has not come back from a double-digit deficit in the previous three season, but have notched comebacks from nine down on two occasions - vs. LMU (12/31/11) and vs. Pepperdine (2/28/13).
On the Horizon
The Dons hit the road to square off with Boise State on Dec. 11, before a home game against the visiting UMKC Kangaroos, another Western Athletic Conference foe.
