Today's Game -- USF (11-14, 4-8 WCC) plays host to the fifth-ranked (AP) Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-2, 11-0 WCC) this afternoon in Memorial Gymnasium. The game is being televised on the Time Warner Network as the WCC's Game of the Week and on San Francisco-based Asian station KTSF in what is believed to be the first Chinese broadcast of a college basketball game. The Dons are coming off a 78-76 home loss Thursday night to Portland, while Gonzaga posted a 77-60 victory over Saint Mary's in Moraga. The Dons have defeated the Zags each of the last three seasons in Memorial Gymnasium, including twice when the Zags were ranked in the Top-25.
USF-Gonzaga Series History -- In a series that dates back to the 1961-62 season, Gonzaga leads te all-time series with USF, 45-22. The Zags hold a 40-17 edge in WCC games and are 2-1 vs. the Dons in WCC Tournament play. The two schools have split each of the last three season series, with each squad winning on its homecourt. USF has defeated Gonzaga each of the last three seasons in Memorial Gymnasium, but have dropped 24 straight to the Zags in Spokane, including a 66-52 decision earlier this season. USF won last year's meeting in Memorial Gymnasium, 66-65 as

With its No. 5 ranking in the AP poll, Gonzaga is the highest-ranked team to visit Memorial Gymnasium since Feb. 15, 1969 when No. 3 Santa Clara defeated USF, 72-47. The last time USF faced an opponent ranked in the top-five in the AP poll was on Nov. 20, 2006, when the Dons fell to No. 5 Ohio State, 82-60 in Columbus. The last time USF defeated a top-five team was on Mar. 23, 1956 when the Dons downed fifth-ranked Iowa, 83-71 to claim its second straight national title. USF's 77-63 victory over No. 3 ranked LaSalle (1955 NCAA title game) is the highest-rated opponent USF has ever defeated.
De'End Parker Named WCC Player of Week -- De'End Parker was named the WCC's Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in helping USF to a 99-87 victory at BYU last Saturday. The junior from San Francisco scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and was 3-for-3 from three-point range as the Dons erased a 15-point second half deficit. Parker is the second USF player to earn the conference's weekly award this season.
Cole Dickerson was honored on Dec. 3 following a 19-point, 20-rebound effort against Montana.
Three's Company -- USF leads the WCC and ranks seventh nationally in three-point field goal percentage at 40.7 (198-487). The Dons are also shooting 42.3 percent (110-for-260) from long distance in conference play. USF has made 37 three-pointers in its last three games vs. Pepperdine (14), BYU (14) and Portland (9) and have shot at a 48.5 percent clip (63-for-130) from beyond the arc over its last six games. The Dons have made nine or more three-pointers in 11 games this season. Avry Holmes (51.4) and De'End Parker (50.0) rank 1-2 nationally in three-point field goal percentage.
Chris Adams ranks 20th nationally at 47.8 percent (32-for-67). All but four of Adams' field goals this season has been a three-pointer.

Cole Dickerson and Matt Christiansen being in place for the last seven games beginning with the Loyola Marymount game on Jan. 19. Christiansen has started the last seven games in the middle while Adams has made 11 straight starts beginning with the BYU game. Doolin, Dickerson and Derksen have started all 25 games this season, while Tao Xu (16), De'End Parker (14) and Frank Rogers (2) have also earned starting assignments. Five underclassmen, including three freshmen, have earned starts at some point during the season.

Cody Doolin -- rank in the top-30 nationally in various statistical categories. Holmes (51.4) and Parker (50.0) rank first and second, respectively, in three-point field goal percentage, Dickerson ranks 18th in rebound average (9.8), Adams 20th in three-point field goal percentage (47.8) while Doolin ranks 29th in assists (5.8).
From the Field -- After shooting just 32.7 percent (34-for-104) from the field against Santa Clara (16-for-50) and Loyola Marymount (18-for-54), USF has shot 47.8 percent (157-for-328) over the last six games. The Dons shot a season-high 57.1 percent (32-for-56) at BYU, including a sizzling 72 percent (18-for-25) in the second half as USF erased a 15-point deficit.
USF is 8-3 this season when shooting 50 percent or better from the floor, with its only losses in those 11 games coming against Ole Miss (50.9) BYU (50.0) and the first game against Saint Mary's (51.0). USF currently ranks fourth in the WCC in field goal percentage at 45.5 percent.
Board Work -- The Dons have been outboarded in 17 of the last 20 contests dating back to the St. John's game on Dec. 4 and rank ninth in the WCC in rebound average at 32.6 per game and rebound margin (-1.9). Cole Dickerson has posted 10 double-doubles in 25 games this season and was a rebound or point away from double-doubles in five other games against Pacific (14-9), Nevada (11-9), East Tennessee State (19-9), BYU (22-9) and Saint Mary's (9-11). The last USF player to average a double-double for an entire season was Darrell Tucker, when he scored 18.9 points and grabbed 10.1 rebounds a game in 2001-02.
Holmes and Parker 1-2 Nationally in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage -- Freshman Avry Holmes (51.4; 37-72) and junior De'End Parker (50.0; 27-54) rank first and second respectively in three-point field goal percentage while sophomore
Chris Adams (47.8; 32-67) ranks 20th. In 12 conference games, Holmes is shooting at a 57.9 percent clip (22-for-38) from long distance. He is 15-for-24 (62.5) from three-point range over the last seven games and has made at least one three-pointer in all of his games this season with the exception of one (at American). Holmes, who matched his career-high with 17 points at BYU, ranks as the Dons fourth-leading scorer averaging 7.7 points per game.
Adams Attention -- Sophomore
Chris Adams has scored 17 points in each of the last two games against BYU and Portland, matching his career-high, and has made a combined 12-of-15 shots from the floor in those two contests, including 9-for-11 shots from beyond the arc. Adams is 29-for-52 (55.7) from three-point range over the last 12 games and is shooting 47.8 percent (32-for-67) from long distance this season. He ranks third in the WCC and 20th nationally in three-point field goal percentage.

Asian Station KTSF to Air Saturday's Gonzaga Game -- In partnership with the University of San Francisco and the West Coast Conference, KTSF Television, the largest Asian-broadcast station in the United States, will televise Saturday's USF-Gonzaga game from Memorial Gymnasium. The telecast is believed to be the first NCAA college basketball game to be broadcast live in Mandarin-Chinese. Veteran Chinese sportscaster and KTSF news reporters John Lee and former Taiwan national team player and five-time Jones Cup International All-Star Job Hung will call the action from courtside.
Doolin Named to Capital One Academic All-District VIII Team --
Cody Doolin was one of five players selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII basketball team, as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America in recognition of the nation's top student-athletes for their performances athletically and in the classroom. Doolin, a native of Austin, Texas, carries a 3.68 cumulative grade point average as a finance major. District VIII comprises the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, along with Canada. Doolin along with the other first team All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in February.
