Mark Tollefsen scored a career-high 22 points while
Cole Dickerson added 18 to go along with 14 rebounds to lead USF to a 73-68 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday night in Memorial Gymnasium.
Tim Derksen came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Tollefsen was 7-of-10 from the floor and nailed all four of his three-point attempts while Dickerson posted his 13th double-double of the season.
Chad Jackson had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Norse.
The game was tied at halftime 30-30 and USF (15-16) led 52-48 with 10:27 left in the game.
The Dons then went on a 13-2 run to open a 65-50 lead with 5:30 remaining, with Derksen accounting for six of the points on back-to-back three pointers.
However, pressure defense helped the Norse whittle the lead down to three-points at 69-66 after Chad Jackson made a layup with :38 remaining.
The Norse (11-16) then forced the Dons into their 14th turnover but Jackson missed a shot that would have cut the lead to one.
Tollefsen was fouled on the rebound and made a pair of free throws that gave the Dons a 71-66 lead with :36 left.
Following a Norse miss, Derksen made a layup on the other end with :15 seconds left to ice the game.
USF shot 48.1 percent from the field, including 58.3 percent in the second half. The Dons made 10-of-24 three-pointers, setting a new single-season record for three-pointers with 249.
