SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team edged the Gonzaga Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 Saturday afternoon to cap the regular season on Senior Day at the Cal Club.
The Dons (12-7, 4-4 WCC) pulled to .500 in West Coast Conference action and advanced to 8-2 at home this season, tying them for the fourth-best home mark in the conference.
USF capped the regular season by taking the doubles point for the 17
th time in the 19 matches on the spring.
Bernardo Saraiva's 6-4, 6-0 defeat of Gonzaga's Olivier Jamin advanced the sophomore's team-leading record to 16-2 on the campaign.
Four USF seniors –
Thai Tu,
William Schumacher,
Jonathon Knowlman and
Richard Bucalem – were honored for their time on the Hilltop prior to the match.
The Dons will head south to take part in the 2013 WCC Championships at the University of San Diego from April 24-27. Tournament seeding will be announced upon the completion of the remaining WCC matches.
