SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco Diamond Dons fell behind early and never recovered Wednesday, falling to Sacramento State, 7-2, at Benedetti Diamond. The Dons have lost three in a row after winning eight straight before Saturday's loss.
 
Thomas Cox lasted 1.1 innings for USF (22-18), surrendering five hits and five runs including two home runs and picking up his first loss of the season.
 
The Hornets struck for two in the first, on a Justin Higley home run, and three in the second on a Will Soto solo shot and a two-run double off the bat of Nathan Lukes.
 
The Dons scored their only runs of the game in the fourth on sacrifice flies from Zachary Turner and Bob Cruikshank.
 
Hunter Greenwood (3-0) went five innings to earn the win.
 
Jason Mahood paced USF with three hits and a run scored.
