SAN FRANCISCO -- University of San Francisco men's head basketball coach
Rex Walters has announced Derrell Roberston, a 6-10, 247-pound center who played the last two seasons at DePaul, has transferred to USF and will be eligible for the 2014-15 season.
Robertson will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Roberston played in all 32 games for the Blue Demons as a sophomore and averaged 13.0 minutes per game. He averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 51.1 percent (24-for-47) from the field. He scored a career high eight points against Arizona State on Dec. 12 and pulled down a career-best seven rebounds against UC Riverside on Nov. 9.
As a freshman in 2011-12, Roberston appeared in 29 games, including one start, an averaged 0.8 points and 1.4 rebounds a game. He blocked a career-high five shots against Chicago State on Dec. 10.
In two seasons at DePaul, Roberson appeared in 61 games, made three starts and averaged 1.4 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 52.2 percent (35-for-67) from the field. He also totaled 37 blocks, which ranks 21
st on the Blue Demons all-time career list.
A native of Pinola, Miss., Roberston attended Mendenhall High School where he averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks a game as a senior. He was ranked No. 39 among centers by ESPN.com and was rated among the top 10 high school prospects in the state of Mississippi.
Roberston joins junior college transfers
Kruize Pinkins (Chipola College / Mariana, FL) and
Corey Hilliard (Midland College / Raytown, MO), along with
Uche Ofoegbu, a transfer from SMU, as newcomers on the 2013-14 roster.
