The Basics
The University of San Francisco hosts the 21st USF Cross Country Invitational at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. The Dons welcome four West Coast Conference schools to the meet, including newest member, Pacific. Also represented in the field are Bay Area foes from the Pac-12, California and Stanford.

The field of accepted entries includes the last two women's individual champions, Aisling Cuffe (2012) and Kelsey Santisteban (2011). Stanford's Cuffe finished a team-leading 21st in the NCAA National Championships as the Cardinal finished third overall. She was awarded for her efforts by earning All-American honors in 2012. Santisteban, a junior for California, led the Bears by placing 70th in the individual standings.

Dons in the Rankings
The Dons land in 23rd nationally in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll. USF received 95 total points and stand as the lone representative of the West Coast Conference in the women's preseason poll. 2013 marks the fourth consecutive season that the women find themselves in the national polls, and the second straight year to land in the preseason rankings. Last season, the Dons earned their highest national ranking as the team came in 18th in the third week of the year. USF was slated in fifth in the West Region, following four Pac-12 squads, including the 2012 champions from Oregon.

The next USTFCCCA national poll will be released on Sept. 17, with the regional rankings scheduled for release one day prior.

USF Invitational Outlook
"It's a good mix of teams and we're always excited to open up the cross country season at home and in the park. It's a wonderful venue for spectating, but also nice for our team to race on their home turf.
We don't race very much as it is, so to be able to race in our own backyard on opening weekend – it is a nice way to kick off the season. We're most excited to see our freshmen compete and start their college career here at USF."

Spectators are welcome to the 21st USF Cross Country Invitational. Enter Golden Gate Park at 30th Ave., off of Fulton. Turn left on JFK and Speedway Meadow, the start and finish point of the race, will be on the right.
