SAN FRANCISCO—The Dons took ties against both of its opponents over the weekend and aim to get back into the win column against Long Beach State on Thursday night.

San Francisco let a win slip away against Oregon last Friday when a late goal off a corner kick tied the game for Oregon. It would have been an impressive two-game swing for the Dons, who were coming off a 1-0 win against Big 12 Conference member Kansas. The defense held up again and has done nothing but impress this season.

The Dons have allowed more than one goal once this season and recorded their fifth shutout of the season in the tie against Portland State on Sunday. The five shutouts has San Francisco tied with the 22nd most in the nation.

The strong start from San Francisco has not gone unnoticed. The NSCAA has the Dons ranked No. 10 in the West region, just behind UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine.

Long Beach State (5-3-0) should provide a stiff test for the Dons. The 49ers have won two straight matches including a 1-0 contest against WCC foe and No. 11 BYU. The lone goal came on a free kick from Mimi Rangel.

Rangel is tied with Eileen Maes with a team-high three goals on the season.

After not starting the first two games of the season, Kaci McCain has stepped in and been great for the 49ers between the posts. She has allowed five goals in six matches with Long Beach State going 5-1-0 in that time. The one loss was a 1-0 affair dropped at Georgia.

The Dons are the 49ers' fourth match against WCC teams and hold a 2-1 record.

The match will mark the end of a five-game set away from Negoesco Stadium and are 1-1-2 thus far on the trip.
