Just the Facts, Ma'am

The University of San Francisco women's basketball team faces off with No. 23 Gonzaga in a rare Friday night conference matchup at War Memorial Gym. The Zags, always a formidable foe, enter as the WCC leaders and a 15-game streak over the Dons. But Gonzaga can't count on a victory too early - USF holds a 14-12 series advantage on the Hilltop.

What 2 Watch 4

USF's Taylor Proctor continues her tear through the New Year, leading the team with 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds a game. She stands in 12th in the WCC in scoring and fifth in rebounding.

Taj Winston contributes 12.1 points per night while Rachel Howard adds 11.8. Zhané Dikes rounds out the Dons' double-digit scorers with 11.3 points per game.

Know the Foe - Gonzaga

Gonzaga enters the contest with the seventh-ranked scoring defense in the country - only allowing opponents an average of 54.4 points per game. To close 2013, the Bulldogs held Portland to a impressive 24 points in a 56-24 victory. Gonzaga's only conference loss game at Saint Mary's, and the team won all its non-conference games save one, at Oklahoma.

The Bulldogs are led by Haiden Palmer's 15.3 points and a WCC-best 3.2 steals per night. Sunny Greinacher adds 11.9 points on .567 shooting and a team-high 5.6 rebounds. Gonzaga is ranked No. 23 in the USAToday Coaches Poll.

Saint Mary's Remix

Make that three in a row for sophomore Taylor Proctor, who led the Dons with a team-high 24 points in USF's defeat to the Gaels. Her 20+-point offense has paced the team for the last three contests, but the Dons couldn't keep pace with the visitors. Saint Mary's poured in 55.0 percent of its attempts and benefitted from a 19-3 run in the second half to pull away for the win.

Devine's Dimes

"2014 marks the 10th Anniversary of a big win for the Dons that spoiled a celebration for Gonzaga.  That year, Gonzaga hosted the final regular season game in the Martin Centre, fondly known as the old "Kennel," and Gonzaga had just started its rise to regional prominence.

"Dozens of Bulldog basketball alums returned to take part in a special ceremony, but when it was all said and done, the Dons prevailed 59-53!"

On the Horizon

USF closes out its four-game homestand, the longest of the 2013-14 season, welcoming Portland to War Memorial Gym for a rare Sunday contest against the Pilots.

Dishing And Swishing - 2013-14 WCC Highlights

Taylor's Twenty
Sophomore Taylor Proctor is on a string of three-straight games of 20 or more points, racking up 22 points in the Dons' win at Pepperdine, followed by a career-high 29-point outing against Pacific. Her third high-scoring output in the string was a 24-point performance vs. Saint Mary's. During the span, Proctor is shooting .547 from the field (23-42).

SoCal Sweep
For the first time since 2002-03, the Dons traveled to LA for two games and escaped Southern California with two victories. Junior Taj Winston led the charge, averaging 18.0 points on 45.8 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists in USF's pair of wins. Taylor Proctor came up big at Pepperdine, posting a career-high 22 points as the Dons crashed the Waves.

Comeback Kids
The Dons had not come back from a double-digit deficit in any game during the previous three seasons, but USF has found itself playing from behind yet coming back for the win on four occasions. USF erased an 11-point deficit at Loyola Marymount and a 10-point margin at Pepperdine. During the non-conference season, the Dons came back from 16 points behind to knock off UNLV for USF's first home win of the season.
