San Francisco's women's tennis team is gearing up for the Saint Mary's Invitational in Moraga, Calif. Singles and doubles play will be held in the Korth Tennis Complex.
Schools scheduled to participate in the tournament include #16 California, Cal Poly, Fresno State, Pacific, Saint Mary's, #56 Santa Clara, Sacramento State, San Jose State, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara and Washington.
"We are looking forward to our 3rd fall event and competing well for 3 days," said head coach
Hilary Somers. " We have worked on specific items after our last tournament that we hope to implement successfully this tournament. I am anxious to witness our physical and mental stamina this weekend and see how tough of a team we are at this point in the year."
All seven Dons will be seeing action at the tournament for the Green and Gold.
Milica Hadzi-Tanovic who has a winning record this season, looks to continue her successes this weekend.
Andrea Ka will use her wins at the ITA Regionals, that left her with a winning fall record of 2-1, to continue the positive momentum at the Invitational.
Marina Nikolic who has played competitively this season, steps to the court in an effort to claim a singles title.
Sofia Holmberg,
Genevieve McCloskey,
Thyra Taune and
Ines Teixeira will also participate in singles play for USF.
Three doubles teams will be participating in the tournament. This includes the pair of Ka and Nikolic, who have prepared themselves to dominate in doubles play this weekend. Â Holmberg and Taune will be playing together for the second time this fall slate. Hadzi-Tanivic and Teixeira set out to add wins to their overall record for the fall. Â
Play will start on Friday at 8:30 a.m. and continues all day. Saturday action is set for an 8:30 a.m. start as well, and the final day of competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. With rain forecasted for the Bay Area, times and brackets are subject to change
