10/29/2014 4:53:00 PM | Men's Tennis
The USF men's tennis team will finish off their fall slate at the Gael Classic from Friday through Sunday. Singles and Doubles play will take place at the Korth Tennis Complex.
Competition at the tournament will include No. 16 California, Cal Poly, Denver, Holy Names, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, Sonoma State and UC Davis.
"As our last tournament of the fall we look to this event for the great field of teams and opportunity for matches," said head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.
Sophomore, Christian Brockstedt heads to the tournament in the pursuit to end his fall season with a strong performance. Thomas Takemoto will step on the court for the Dons using his last win at the ITA Regionals as a positive momentum against his competitors. Both Brockstedt and Takemoto have been injured throughout the fall slate and this will give them the opportunity to make up for lost time. Jason Lee and Alex Santiago will also see singles action at the tournament.
Lee and Santiago will join together in doubles play at the Classic. This will be the second time of the fall season that Lee and Santiago will be competing together in tournament play in order to sharpen their skills in pressure situations.
Action will begin early Friday morning and continue through Sunday afternoon. However, with rain forecasted for the Bay Area this weekend, match times are subject to change.
