San Francisco is riding high after the opening trio of games, as USF holds a 3-0 record for the first time since 1983-8, and just the fourth 3-0 mark attained in program history (since 1976). The Dons look to extend the season-opening streak to four for just the second time ever.
#WeAreSF
The Dons have opened the season with a balanced attack, and four women are averaging double-digit scoring.
Taylor Proctor's 14.3 points and 8.7 rebounds leads the Dons in both categories, and the junior forward from Colorado Springs, Colo., also leads the way in total assists with seven.
Freshman
Michaela Rakova comes off the bench for USF and has averaged 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds a night, coming in behind Proctor.
Taj Winston (10.7 ppg) and
Zhane Dikes (10.3 ppg) round out the double-digit scorers.
Know the Foe
UC Riverside has also opened with a momentous start, opening 2-0 with high-scoring victories over Santa Clara and San Jose State. The Highlanders are paced  by Brittany Crain, who is leading the team averaging 31.5 points and 11.5 rebounds a game. Simone DeCoud adds 20.5 points per night on .500 shooting to go along with 7.0 rebounds per contest. As a team, UC Riverside is outscoring opponents with a 15.5 point margin of victory - 90.0 to 74.5 points.
Last Time Out
USF took care of Cal State Monterey Bay 85-48 to remain unscathed through the season-opening weekend. For the Dons, the 3-0 start to the season is the first since 1983-84, and just the fourth in program history (since 1976-77). The Dons were paced by a 22-point outing from junior
Taylor Proctor. She was joined in double-digit scoring by two Dons,
Taj Winston and
Michaela Rakova – who each finished with 10 points. Three women grabbed a game-high six rebounds in the contest –
Zhane Dikes,
Paige Spietz and
Alicia Scafidi.
All told, the Dons played 14 women in the game, and every available roster player picked up at least four minutes of action.
Spanning the Globe
USF welcomes four newcomers to the 2014-15 squad, and tout California product
Tiara Tucker, JUCO All-American
Chelsey Jacox and the first two international student-athletes to play for the Dons under head  coach
Jennifer Azzi,
Anna Seilund and
Michaela Rakova.
On the Horizon
USF returns home to meet up with Nevada Tuesday, as part of a volleyball/basketball Ladies Night Doubleheader on the Hilltop. The Dons and the Wolfpack have a 7:30 p.m., estimated tip, following the conclusion of USF's Senior Night volleyball match.
