SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco women's tennis team racked up another tight win, defeating San Jose State 4-3 at The Olympic Club Friday afternoon.

The Dons have been on a tear to start the season, improving their dual match record to 6-2 and standing at a perfect 2-0 at home on the year.

USF started the match by easily taking the doubles point. In fall tournament action, the Dons lost two doubles matches to San Jose State on Nov. 9, but Friday, doubles belonged to USF.

The tandem of Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic defeated San Jose State's Julianna Bacelar and Sabastiani Leon Chao, 6-1. USF duo of Milica Hadzi-Tanovic and Brooke Irish also tallied a strong 6-1 victory to edge the Dons out to the lead heading into singles action.

Thyra Taune, playing from the No. 1 singles position, took care of Marie Klocker in the day's most dominant match with a final score of 6-1, 6-1. Irish, facing off with Justine Delevel for the second time of the day, earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory. It took three sets for Ka to dispatch her opponent. After  dropping the first set to Gaelle Rey by a socre of 6-4, the sophomore from Paris, France, rebounded to take the second 7-5 and powered home the third with a 6-1 win.

Up next, the Dons travel to UC Davis to face the Aggies Saturday at 12 p.m. The match, originally slated for Feb. 8, was delayed to the 22nd due to weather conditions.
