USF Earns Commanding Win Over Lamar, 6-1
Timothy Tan, a freshman from San Jose, Calif., saw his first singles action of the spring. He picked up two wins on the weekend, clinching the USF victory Sunday against Lamar.

FORT WORTH, Texas – The San Francisco men's tennis team put together its second-straight dominating match in Texas, downing Lamar 6-1 on the campus of TCU Sunday.

The Dons improve to 5-4 on the season and have reigned victorious in four of its last five matches. Lamar, in the midst of a nine-game road swing stands at 7-4 after the loss to the Dons.

The Dons opened the day taking the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions to open with the lead. Germain Bahri's 6-3, 6-2 win over Mikko Rajamaki extended the lead and James Tallman dominated Juuso Laitenen, 6-4, 6-0 to send the match to the brink.

Playing in the No. 6 position, Timothy Tan clinched the match victory with a straight-set win over Lamar's Trey Crysel. After Lamar picked up the point at the No. 2 position, Thomas Takemoto nabbed a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jeandre Hoogenboezem before Bernardo Saraiva capped the day with a victory at No. 1 singles.

The junior from Lisbon, Portugal, battled Michael Feucht in the day's lone three-set match. Saraiva dropped the first set to Feucht before rebounding for the 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 victory to give USF the 6-1 win.

"Bernardo came up huge for us in his matches against TCU and Lamar," head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida said. "It's great to go 2-1 on this trip and gain some confidence as we get closer to conference play,"

After a week of rest, a road trip to Sacramento State on March 8 is next on the docket for the Dons.
