SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco men's tennis opened its home slate and dropped a 4-3 nailbiter to Nevada at The Olympic Club Monday afternoon.

The Dons played from behind from the start after dropping the doubles point to the Wolfpack to open the match. Nevada won the next two singles matches to push USF to the brink as the Dons found themselves down 3-0.

USF battled back to take the next three points of the match to square the score. Bernardo Saraiva's 2-6, 6-5(7), 6-1 victory over Moez Echargui at No. 1 singles left the day's outcome in the hands of Nils Skajaa. After winning his first set 6-5(3), Skajaa's opponent took the next two 6-4, 6-3 to close the day with a Wolfpack win.

"It was a tough day for the Dons," said head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida. "After losing the doubles point, we battled back in singles and it came down to Nils and Bernardo at the end. It was a tough loss, but the guys fought hard against a tough team and just came up short."

With the loss, the Dons move to 1-2 on the season, while Nevada improves to 3-1 after snatching the road win in San Francisco.
USF now travels to Seattle to face off with No. 42 Washington on Friday afternoon.
